Welcome to PPRuNe, The Professional Pilots RUmour NEtwork. PPRuNe was started in 1995 by Danny Fyne, an airline pilot, as a hobby project because the job prevented those of us who work for the airlines from having the normal 9 to 5 office lifestyle which is largely the norm for most people. Because of this we do not get to hear the usual type of gossip and it was only when downroute in a night-stop hotel when we got to meet up with other crews and the rumours could circulate.

Although PPRuNe was originally set up to cater for airline pilots, as more and more people who are involved in our industry became interested in our 'network' we accommodated them with their own forums and now they are the core of the website. We have changed to a dynamic format with constantly changing information which we hope will improve your experience when visiting the site whilst at the same time keeping graphics to a minimum.

The club was formed a Meir Airfield in 1962 and moved to a moorland site near Leek when Meir closed in 1972. The club moved to Seighford in 1992 as it is much more suitable for modern gliding, since the move the club has grown to more than 150 members. It is a self help club without any employees, which keeps down the cost of flying and encourages a friendly atmosphere sometimes lacking in the larger professional clubs.
